It is possible to recoat a nonstick pan, by consistently putting on a coat of oil after use and wiping up the excess with a paper towel. Pans can also be sent in to a company to be stripped of their old and nonfunctional coating, and recoated. Depending on the type of pan, it can sometimes be more effective to simply buy a new pan, as is the case with some frying pans.
Nonstick coatings cannot be purchased in spray can form, since the process of making pans nonstick is too elaborate for this to be possible. Nonstick coatings offer heat resistance, chemical stability and abrasion resistance, making them a great option for many pans.
