Is it possible to split payments between a prepaid MasterCard and another form of payment?

It is possible to combine different payment types on a purchase when the balance is low on a prepaid MasterCard. However, not all merchants may accept or be able to process a split payment option at the point of sale.
A prepaid MasterCard cardholder should notify a cashier prior to making a purchase of the amount that is to be deducted from the card. The process of using a secondary payment method for one purchase is called "split tender". A prepaid MasterCard is identical in function to a debit MasterCard and is typically accepted at any location where the latter can be used.
