A postgraduate diploma is a qualification in higher education that is typically granted outside of the United States; for example in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. It takes around 6 months to 2 years to complete and may either involve further education and training in a graduate's current field or going in another direction academically.
A student who has not completed a thesis or dissertation, but who has completed most of a master's program, may be eligible to receive a postgraduate diploma.
Students who enroll in a postgraduate diploma program can expand their knowledge in areas outside the scope of their bachelor's program, or they can use the time to gain more specialized in-depth knowledge in their chosen field.
