What qualifies an individual as a post-graduate?

A postgraduate is a student who possesses a bachelor’s degree and pursues graduate-level coursework. Any student enrolled in any graduate program is a postgraduate, including those pursuing a master’s degree, doctoral degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma or professional degree with graduate-level courses.

Graduate students attend universities with programs ranging from two years to five or more years, depending on the level of degree, field of study, and full-time or part-time status. Postgrads who complete a dissertation may take up to 10 years to complete their work in some disciplines. Master’s degrees usually take two years of study. Graduate certificates and diplomas may take a shorter amount of time.
