The typical diet for a potato bug includes various insects, roots and tubers. "Potato bug" is an informal term that refers to the Jerusalem cricket. Jerusalem crickets are large bugs that may reach 50 millimeters in length. The color of a potato bug ranges from yellow to brown.
Potato bugs are active and feed during the night while usually hiding under rocks or logs during the daytime. Potato bugs do not reproduce or infest indoor areas but often accidentally venture into homes. Potato bugs are mistakenly thought to be poisonous but they do not carry any venom. However, these bugs are known to deliver a painful bite when they feel threatened.
