"Pou," the mobile virtual pet app for kids, costs $1.99 to download for iPhones and iPads, as of November 2015, but it is free for Android phones on GooglePlay.com. AppWorld.Blackberry.com charges 99 cents to download the app for Blackberries. Some game items require in-game purchases.

Pou, the alien pet, is a softly rounded triangle shape who comes in a light brown color. Players take care of it by feeding and grooming it as they watch it grow up. They can play arcade-style video games with Pou and talk with it. Customizations for Pou include changing its color and dressing it up in outfits and accessories such as sunglasses and hats. Unlocking new levels opens new wallpapers, clothing and activities.
