What is the best prescription medication for diabetic foot pain?

There is not one particular prescription medication for diabetic nerve pain that is the best, as the same medication does not work for everyone, states WebMD. Prescription medications that are commonly used include anti-seizure drugs such as Lyrica, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as Celebrex, and opioids such as morphine and antidepressants.
Diabetic neuropathy is caused by high blood sugar over time, which damages nerve fibers, explains Mayo Clinic. High blood sugar does not allow the nerves to transmit signals as they should. Smoking, excessive intake of alcohol, genetics and inflammation of the nerves caused by an autoimmune response all contribute to diabetic nerve pain.
