What product kills nutsedge or nut grass?

There are a few herbicides that kill nutsedge or nut grass, including Casoron, Roundup and Sedgehammer brand-name products. For maximum effectiveness, apply the herbicide either before the plants emerge from the ground or to young plants as indicated by the package instructions.

Nutsedge, or nut grass, causes problems in lawns as it grows quickly and can take over the regular grass and lead to a multicolored appearance. To prevent nutsedge from becoming an issue in a lawn or garden, the best option is to remove very small, new plants before they become established, thereby limiting the production of fast-growing tubers.
