As of 2015, ComicsAlliance.com and Comic-Book-Software-Review.com list the most popular computer programs for creating comic books as Manga Studio, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro and Final Draft. For writing scripts and story lines, artists use a basic Microsoft Word program.

Many programs recommended by artists cost approximately between $50 and $110, depending on brand, edition and amount of tools users have access to in the program.

Mashable.com offers a list of free programs online that allow users to create basic comic books. MakeBeliefsComix.com, MarvelKids.com and Pixton.com are a few websites with varying amounts of tools that are usable by children and adults alike.
