The Progressive movement was successful in several ways, ranging from passing new acts such as the Interstate Commerce Act in 1887 and the Sherman Antitrust Act in 1890, to reforms in the food and drug laws and railroad sectors. The Progressive movement also succeeded in adding new amendments to the Constitution.
The Progressive Movement started at the end of the nineteenth century as an effort to cure the ills of American society that resulted from the previous period of industrial growth. Some of the main problems that were addressed included urban development, poverty, extended suffrage to women and social protection through prohibition.
