A single recommended dose of Advantage II is .23 milliliters for kittens, .40 milliliters for small cats and .80 milliliters for felines larger than 9 pounds, states FleaScience. Advantage II need only be administered once monthly in treating present fleas and preventing further infestations, according to PetCo.
Active ingredients imidacloprid and pyriproxyfen in the topical formula work to kills fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae within 12 hours of application, explains 1-800-PetMeds. Advantage II is effective even after shampoo treatment, swimming and prolonged exposure to rain or sunlight, states Petco.
The Advantage II treatment must not be used on kittens younger than eight weeks, warns Petco.com.
