What is a proper golf stance?

A proper golf stance is the setup a golfer takes over the golf ball before the swing to ensure proper alignment and positioning. The alignment of the golfer's body should be parallel to the target line with his weight balanced on the balls of his feet.
A proper golf stance keeps the spine straight with no slouch. The knees are slightly flexed and directly over the balls of the feet to ensure proper balance. The body should bend at the hips and not the waist, to ensure proper posture throughout the swing. This also gives the golfer more potential shoulder turn on the back swing, producing more power.
