What PSA level should a 65-year-old male have?
By Forinfos - 16/02/2025 - 0 comments
The recommended PSA level for an African American or Caucasian 65-year-old man is zero to 4.5 nanograms per milliliter, according to MedicineNet.com. The suggested level for an Asian American man of the same age is zero to 4.
Not all medical experts agree with assigning PSA levels by age, MedicineNet.com reports. Some specialists prefer making 4 nanograms per milliliter the top acceptable value regardless of age. However, because prostate growth is associated with aging, using slightly higher values for older men reduces the number of biopsies to check for prostate cancer. In men over 50 with PSA values between 4 and 10, the possibility of finding cancer through biopsies is 17 to 32 percent.
