What is a psychometric conversion table?

Psychometric conversion tables are tables that convert raw scores from psychometric tests, such as those that measure IQ, into scale scores and their associated statistical values. Psychometric theory and testing covers the statistical methods nearly all behavioral and social sciences use to quantify the psychology of humans.
Psychometricians analyze tests and questionnaires and quantify the results using statistical models, such as the z-scores, t-scores and percentiles. They place these normed results in conversion tables for easy data distribution and analysis. Average people come into contact with psychometric conversions on standardized tests, such as the SAT, MAT, GRE and LSAT tests.
