A puppy generally loses its incisor teeth between three to four months old, canines at four months old and premolars at around six months of age.
Puppies grow a total of twenty eight teeth by the time they are six to eight weeks old. Puppies lose these teeth sometime around the age of three to four months old, with their incisor teeth being the first to fall out. Canine teeth, also known as the fangs, usually fall out at about four months old. Around six months of age, the premolars are the last to fall out. Forty two adult teeth then grow in place of the puppy teeth.
It is very common for a puppy to swallow baby teeth. A veterinarian can assist with removing teeth that have not fallen out on their own.
