When was the Purdue University website created?

The Internet Archive, which records snapshots of websites, shows records of Purdue University's website – Purdue.edu – dating back to 1997. The online domain registry database, however, shows a registration date for Purdue.edu of April 1985.

The university's Marketing and Media department maintains the website as of 2015. It was originally developed and maintained by the Computing Center and Office of University Relations. Both old and new versions of the website use the school's colors – black and gold – as the basis for the design, and both serve as a primary portal for delivering school-related information for students and potential attendees.
