The NIMS training program is developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the purpose of developing training for emergency management. The acronym NIMS stands for National Incident Management System.
NIMS training is intended for emergency administrators and management officials who are responsible for planning, budgets and procurement. The implementation of the training is followed by the adoption of the Incident Command System (ICS). The training is not only intended for law enforcement officers and firefighters, but also for hospitals, EMS, skilled support personnel and various volunteers. The completion of the training leads to efficient and effective emergency incident management.
