A PVC jelly sandal is a type of shoe made by a company in Australia called Holster. The unique attribute of this sandal is that it is made of a recyclable number 3 PVC material. PVC jelly sandals are odor-resistant, easy to clean, vegan-friendly and cruelty free.

The Los Angeles Times chronicled the shoe’s history, having first been made after World War II because of a leather shortage. In the 50s and 60s, the shoe became popular while the country was experimenting with industrial materials. Jelly sandals became a fad in the 1980s, sold from department stores to drug store chains. High-end designers have since created jelly sandals for their own fashion lines.
