What makes up the Quad Cities?

The Quad Cities are Moline, East Moline, Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf. These five cities straddle the border between Iowa and Illinois along the Mississippi River.
Moline, East Moline and Rock Island are located in the state of Illinois. Davenport and Bettendorf are in the state of Iowa. The section of the Mississippi River on which the Quad Cities are located is the only part of the river that runs east to west rather than north to south. The John Deere tractor was invented by a Quad City native and the company is still headquartered in the Quad Cities. The first electric washing machine was also invented by a Quad City native.
