What qualifies as full-time education?
By Forinfos - 01/04/2025 - 0 comments
In U.S. colleges and universities, a full-time education is usually 12 credit hours or the equivalent as counted by the school. Full-time students are afforded certain benefits when it comes to federal taxes, educational grants and student loans.
Students who have taken out a student loan can have their payments deferred as long as they remain at full-time status. Parents of full-time students can claim their 19- to 23-year-old children on their taxes as dependents whereas the usual cut-off age is 18. A full-time student seeking a Federal Pell Grant gets more money from this grant than a part-time student.
