Who qualifies for Obamacare?

Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, is open to all U.S. residents and legal immigrants; however, not everyone qualifies for free or subsidized health care plans. Only those who qualify for Medicaid or meet income guidelines for subsidies get these benefits.

Under this act, most people living in the United States must carry insurance coverage or pay a tax. Citizens and legal residents who do not qualify for a free or subsidized plan may still save money on a plan purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace over the plans offered by their employer or directly from an insurance company.
