What is quartz tile?

Quartz tile is a kitchen or bathroom tile made from the mineral quartz. To make the tile, the quartz is crushed up and mixed with resin. The usual ratio is 97 percent quartz to 7 percent resin.

Color pigment is also added to create a variety of colors including pink, purple, blue and green. Some quartz tiles feature small fragments of quartz that sparkle and have a mirror-like quality. This type of quartz has been labeled starlight quartz.

Quartz tiles are used as an alternative to natural stone tiles, as it is stain-proof and does not need treating with sealing products.
