A rabbit's tail is called a "scut," which is a word that was first invented 400 years ago, although it is rarely used today. The word is also used to signify other animals' tails as well, including deer, bears, goats and moose.
Most bunny tails have a white bottom that shows when they flash their tails upwards. Most of the time this flashing of the tail signifies to other rabbits that the rabbit is excited or worried about its safety. Rabbit tails are also very short and look like a small ball of fur. Both male and female rabbits have tails, although only female rabbits have a dewlap, which is excess skin found beneath the chin.
