How do rabbits reproduce?

The reproductive process of the rabbit is similar to most mammals and consists of the male depositing sperm into the female through intercourse, producing offspring. One male rabbit, or buck, can mate with a female rabbit, a doe, up to three times per week.

Medium-sized rabbits are sexually mature at the age of six to seven months old. The average gestation period from the time of mating until the offspring's birth is around one month, and they are weaned after another month's time. A rabbit produces between eight to 10 kits, or babies, in each litter and has about five litters per year for up to three years.
