A rat tail cactus, also known as Aporocactus Flagelliformis or Disocactus flagelliformis, is a trailing cactus that is mainly used for hanging baskets. It has stems that grow up to 1 foot long and hang down like a mop head.

The rat tail cactus has brown spines and pink tubular flowers. Blooms occur in the spring and last for about five days. The cactus needs bright, but not direct, sunlight and frequent watering. If indoors, rat tail cacti should be re-potted every two to three years. It can also grow outdoors. In the early summer, the rat tail cactus can be propagated by stem cuttings.
