What is a ray in geometry?

In geometry, a ray is a straight line extending infinitely from a fixed point. A ray is expressed using an arrow as its symbol (--->). A ray cannot be measured since it does not have an end on one side.

A ray is part of a line, which goes on infinitely in both directions and is indicated with the symbol <--->. Like a ray, a line cannot be measured. A line segment, however, can be measured because it is part of a line with both a beginning and an ending point. When two rays share the same fixed point, an angle is formed, and that common point is known as the vertex.
