How is reading ability measured using Lexile ranges?
By Forinfos - 08/04/2026 - 0 comments
A student's Lexile measure is evaluated using a reading test or program, according to the Lexile website. A higher number indicates a higher reading ability, and a letter "L" is added to the end of the numerical score.
Lexile measures range from less than 200L for emergent readers to greater than 1600L for advanced readers. Readers who score 0L or below are categorized as beginning readers, and a BR code followed by a Lexile measure indicates that the reader is the stated Lexile score below zero Lexile. For BR-coded Lexile measures, a lower number represents higher reading ability, according to the Lexile website.
