What are some really persuasive words?

Some of the most persuasive words in English are "you," "free," "because" and "new." However, the persuasive power of any word is subjective, depends heavily on context and varies between written and spoken language.

Perhaps the most subtle and effective persuasive word is "you," which addresses a listener directly and creates inclusiveness. The effect of "you" is magnified when used in conjunction with the listener's name.

"Because" is one of several persuasive words that create a cause-and-effect structure that appeals to the listener's sense of logic, even when the joined causes and effects are not rationally bound. Other words that provide a similar link are "accordingly," "thus" and "since."
