Rebecca Nurse was accused of witchcraft on March 24, 1692. Although she was originally found not guilty, the jury was asked to reconsider after there was an outcry from the public. The jury changed their verdict and found her guilty.
Rebecca Nurse was born on February 21, 1621. She lived in Salem Village with her husband and eight children. She was 71 years old when she was accused of being a witch, despite attending church regularly. Several members of the community signed a petition stating her innocence. She was executed on July 19, 1692. Two of her sisters were also accused of witchcraft and executed.
