What is the record for longest time in a plank position?
By Forinfos - 12/05/2025 - 0 comments
In 2014, a Chinese man named Mao Weidong held an abdominal plank position for 4 hours, 26 minutes, setting a world record for holding this position. Weidong's accomplishment surpassed the previous record, set by American George Hood, by 1 hour, 19 minutes.
The plank position that Mao Weidong held in 2014 involves supporting the body on the forearms and the tips of the toes while the head, back and legs form a straight line. This is a popular exercise to develop core strength, though most people tend to hold the plank position for much less time than the record holder did. This position differs from the "planking" position that became part of an international fad in the early 2010s.
