According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest baby born to a healthy mother weighed 22 pounds, 8 ounces, as of 2015. Another baby that held the world record was between 22 pounds and 23 pounds, 12 ounces, depending on the source, but that baby died after 11 hours.

The baby that weighed 22 pounds, 8 ounces was the son of Carmelina Fedele, an Italian woman. The baby was born in September 1955. The baby that died after 11 hours was the son of a Canadian giantess named Anna Bates. He was born on Jan. 19, 1879 in Seville, Ohio. Bates was also a large baby, weighing 18 pounds at birth.
