What is the recovery time following a cone biopsy?

Most women who have a cone biopsy can return to their daily routines one week after the procedure, states WebMD. A woman may experience bloody discharge for up to three weeks after her biopsy and should abstain from sexual intercourse for three weeks to allow full recovery.

A cone biopsy is a procedure that takes a cone-shaped wedge of tissue from a woman's cervix, according to WebMD. The tissue removed is tested for cancerous cells. Doctors perform this type of biopsy in women who are suspected of having cervical cancer. It is an out-patient procedure and is performed under either general or local anesthetic.
