What do red eared slider turtles eat?

As omnivores, red eared slider turtles eat a diet that consists of some vegetation and some meat. Wild red eared sliders will eat algae and other water-based vegetation, along with catching things like minnows or frogs.

Captive red eared sliders will eat most anything the handler provides. However, a diet rich in the right minerals and vitamins is important for their health, so feeding commercially prepared turtle pellets will provide proper nutrition for pet turtles.
