What is a red jellyfish?
By Forinfos - 29/10/2025 - 0 comments
The red jellyfish, Tiburonia granrojo, is a large, predatory species of jellyfish living deep in the Pacific Ocean. Dark red in color, it grows to 2 to 3 feet in diameter and has a fleshy appearance.
In contrast to the long, delicate tentacles of most jellyfish, the red jellyfish has thick, short arms that are used for feeding. It is typically found in cold waters with temperatures of around 2.6 to 5 degrees Celsius. The red jellyfish was first spotted in 1993 but not studied and classified until 2003, and comparatively little is known about it. Because it lives more than a mile below the ocean's surface, studies have mainly been performed on this creature with remote-controlled submarines.
