What is the Red Pyramid series?

"The Red Pyramid" is the first book in the Kane Chronicles, a series of novels written by Rick Riordan. The second book is "The Throne of Fire," followed by "The Serpent's Shadow." The recommended reading level is grades five to six.

The protagonists in all three novels are siblings Carter and Sadie Kane. The series is themed around Egyptian mythology, and many characters are named and inspired by gods and goddesses of ancient Egyptian myths. The Kanes are descendants of Ramses the Great and are both powerful magicians. Carter, older brother to Sadie, is a reluctant leader but tries to remain confident. Sadie is a habitual rule-breaker, but she is a skilled linguist and translator.
