What is a redundant colon?
By Forinfos - 15/02/2025 - 0 comments
A person with a redundant colon has a large intestine that is bigger than ones in the average human body. It is longer than usual, and the extra organ material creates loops in the colon that are repetitive, or redundant.
A redundant colon is often just a variation in anatomy that causes no symptoms and requires no treatment. In these cases, the condition is considered normal. In some rarer cases, a redundant colon causes more serious complications. This occurs when the redundant material wraps around itself, causing an obstruction in the colon. When this happens, cramping occurs and medical attention is recommended to remove the problem.
