Where are redwoods near San Francisco?

Two significant redwood forests near San Francisco are Muir Woods National Monument and Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Muir Woods is 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, and Big Basin Redwoods State Park is south of San Francisco between San Jose and Santa Cruz.
Muir Woods is a 560-acre redwood forest which was donated to the federal government in 1905 as one of the last untouched redwood forests. Declared a national monument in 1908, the forest includes six miles of trails.
Big Basin Redwoods State Park contains 18,000 acres of redwood forest, much of which is old-growth forest. The park contains 80 miles of hiking trails and is available for camping.
