A refurbished phone is one that is not new but has been restored and tested to match the standards and specifications of a new phone, explains NewEgg.com. The term refurbishment is used as such phones cannot legally be sold as new.
Refurbished phones are not always used phones. These can be phones that were once display models or part of unused inventory due to signs of damage to the seal or packaging. Unlike used phones, which are sold as is, refurbished phones are only sold after they have been repaired and inspected to make certain the phone is in the same condition it would be had its packaging never been opened.
