"Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" opened on Dec. 19, 2014, in the United States. It is the third movie in the series. A number of characters from the first two episodes returned, including Roosevelt, played by the late comedian Robin Williams.

The original "Night at the Museum" premiered in New York City on Dec. 17, 2006, with a general release on Dec. 22. "Battle for the Smithsonian," the second episode, premiered in Washington, D.C., on May 14, 2009. Its general release in the U.S. and Canada occurred on May 22, 2009. The movies follow the adventures of a night guard who discovers the magic of a museum that comes to life when the sun sets.
