Why is Remembrance Day so important?

Remembrance Day honors the armed forces members who died in World War I. This is a holiday that occurs in the Commonwealth countries. Some people also refer to it as Armistice Day and Poppy Day.
People celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11th. This date represents World War I hostilities ending on November 11, 1918. King George V dedicated this day on November 7, 1919 to be a day where the living could remember the fallen. The very first celebration of this day occurred at Buckingham Palace on the evening of November 10, 1919. The red poppy is the official emblem of this holiday.
