Remove calcium from glass, such as auto windshields or windows, by cleaning with a commercial, ammonia-based window cleaner, and wiping dry. Use a microfiber cloth dipped in vinegar to remove spots. Finally, remove the vinegar with more window cleaner.
- Clean the glass
Clean the dirt and grime from the glass using an ammonia-based window cleaner. Spray the window cleaner on the glass and use a microfiber cloth to wipe the glass until it is dry. This process leaves the calcium deposits on the glass.
- Wipe the spots with vinegar
Dip a clean microfiber cloth in distilled white vinegar and wipe the glass. The acid from the vinegar dissolves the calcium on the glass. If cleaning a car, do not allow the vinegar to come in contact with paint. Concentrate on the calcium spots to ensure you remove them from the glass.
- Remove the vinegar with glass cleaner
Spray the glass with glass cleaner to remove the vinegar. Use paper towels to wipe the cleaner. Then, polish the glass and dry the window.
- Repeat any steps if necessary
Check the glass once it is dry. If any hard water spots remain, repeat the steps as necessary to ensure you remove them all.
