How do you remove CD scratches by placing them in your freezer?

To remove scratches from a CD, put the disc in the freezer, recorded side up, for several hours. Then remove the CD, and allow it to reach room temperature. Remove any moisture with a clean, soft cloth.
The CD should not touch anything else while in the freezer. Avoid touching the recorded side of the CD when removing it from the freezer, and allow the CD to thaw with that side facing up. Placing the CD on a clean, soft towel helps absorb moisture and may speed the warming process. Make sure the CD reaches room temperature before rubbing it. To avoid damage to the player, make sure to remove all moisture before playing the CD.
