How do you remove dark stains on underarms?

To remove dark stains on underarms, use an underarm wax, exfoliate or use lemon juice to naturally bleach the dark skin. Speak to a dermatologist if the dark stains persist or if itching and irritation occur.
- Use an underarm wax
Use an at-home waxing system that is intended for use on the underarms. The wax removes dark hairs that cause skin discoloration. Do not wax if you have sensitive skin, as waxing can irritate the skin and stimulate melanin production, contributing to the hyper-pigmentation of the skin.
- Exfoliate
Use an all-natural product to exfoliate underarm skin and remove dead skin cells. Exfoliate daily to reduce dark stains and prevent them from reoccurring.
- Use lemon
Rub a thick slice of lemon under each armpit before showering to bleach the dark underarm stains. Alternatively, mix the juice of one lemon with a couple pinches of turmeric and a small amount of honey. Apply the paste to your underarms, and leave it on for 10 minutes, then wash it off with warm water.
- Speak to a dermatologist
If the dark stains persist or if you experience itching, burning or irritation, speak to a dermatologist. The dermatologist may prescribe a topical ointment containing hydroquinone to treat the skin discoloration.
