Removing drywall anchors is a simple process that only takes a few minutes, though it may require later patching of the wall with putty. In order to remove drywall anchors from your home, you need a screwdriver, a hammer and a pair of pliers.
Unscrew the screws in the anchor
Using the screwdriver, carefully unscrew any screws in the anchor. You should be able to remove all of the screws from the anchor so that it is completely free from the surrounding wall.
Pull anchor out with pliers
Take your pliers and use them to grab the drywall anchor. Pull towards yourself gently, and rock your arm back and forth. For some drywall anchors, this movement alone is enough. Other models require more work. If the drywall anchor is not easily removed by this motion, move on to the next step.
Use the screwdriver and hammer to remove the anchor
Press your screwdriver around the edges of the exposed anchor. Once your screwdriver head is in place, use your hammer to begin tapping the end of the screwdriver and forcing the anchor to move forward. Repeat this several times. The anchor should be pressed through and fall down behind the wall.
