How do you remove Jell-O stains?

To remove Jell-O stains, immediately soak the garment in cold water and vigorously scrub. Do not soak the item in hot water, as this solidifies the stain. Treat the stain with color-safe bleach, and then wash the item in warm water. Treat stubborn stains with a concentrated vinegar and alcohol solution.

1. Wash fresh stains

   Saturate the stain in cold water, and scrub it with a clean cloth. Continue until the stain is mostly removed. If the stain has dried, treat the area with a hard-bristle brush to remove dried flakes.

2. Soak in a pre-wash treatment

   Pour 1 to 2 tablespoons of color-safe liquid bleach into a bucket of cold water. Soak the stains for 30 minutes.

3. Wash the item

   After soaking, wash the clothing in warm water. Use your standard detergent.

4. Review the stain

   Once the wash cycle completes, review the stained area. If no stain is present, dry as normal. If evidence of the stain still exists, the garment requires further treatment.

5. Create a stubborn stain solution

   If the stain is not removed after washing, mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol.

6. Soak the stain

   Dip a clean cloth into the vinegar and alcohol solution. Press the saturated cloth into the stain, but do not scrub. Continue until the stain is lifted.
