How do you remove lipstick stains from clothing?

To remove lipstick stains from a fabric that can't be safely washed, dry cleaning solvent should be used, and the stain should be blotted up until no more of it can be taken up. The solvent should be left to evaporate before sponging with water.

With the exception of silk or wool, the lipstick stain should be treated with a couple of drops of ammonia. The stain should be alternately blotted and flushed with water, a wet spotter and small amount of white vinegar. Then, the area of the stain should be flushed with water again.

Washable fabric should be treated with a stain remover, presoaked and washed right away.
