Remove the odor of skunk from a cat's face by washing the cat with a cleaning solution made of baking soda, dish soap and peroxide. Then, clean the cat's face with pet shampoo to remove any remaining oils, and replace the oils the with products designed for a cat's skin.
- Create the cleaning solution
Mix one-fourth cup baking soda with 1 teaspoon of dish soap and 1 quart of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide in a bowl to create a cleaning solution. The solution should have the texture of slightly thickened water.
- Clean the cat's face
Dip a clean cloth into the solution, and then wring it out until it is damp. Wipe the cat's face with the towel, taking care to avoid the cat's eyes. Rub the solution thoroughly through the cat's coat and into the skin. Wet the cloth repeatedly to keep it damp during the application process. Leave the solution in place for between five to 20 minutes.
- Wash the cat's face
Use a pet shampoo to wash the cat's face to lift any oils in the coat. Rinse the cat with clean water to remove soapy residue, then condition the coat with pet conditioner. Repeat the entire cleaning process if the odor remains.
- Replenish the oils
Replace the oils stripped from the cat's skin due to the use of the hydrogen peroxide by using pet products specifically created for the task. After 24 to 48 hours, treat the cat with a topical flea and tick product to restore the protection stripped away through the washing process.
