How do you repair an air bed leak?

To repair a leak in an air mattress, locate the leak, remove the flocking from around the leak, apply an adhesive, and cut and apply a patch. Many manufacturers include patch kits with their products, but kits are also available separately at retailers.
- Locate the leak
Inflate the mattress. Fill a spray bottle with water, and add a few drops of liquid detergent. Spray the liquid in the area of the suspected leak. Look for bubbles that indicate the leak.
- Remove the flocking
Dry the area around the leak, and use fine sandpaper to remove the flocking from the mattress around the leak. Mark the leak with adhesive tape. Deflate the bed.
- Apply the adhesive
Remove the tape, and apply the adhesive. Use a brush to apply a thin, even coat. Allow it to dry for at least 10 minutes, and apply a second coat. Repeat until you apply three to five coats of the adhesive sealer.
- Apply the patch
Cut a patch to size using scissors. Place the patch over the leak. Brush sealer over the patch, overflowing the adhesive onto the adjacent areas. Allow sufficient time for the patch to dry before you inflate the bed again. Use the spray bottle to check for leaks, and dry the area.
