In order to repair a float switch on a sump pump, run the pump until all the water is drained, disconnect the power, remove the float switch, unscrew the connections to access the electric switch inside and replace with a new switch. Replace the new switch using waterproof glue.

1. Prepare the sump pump

Run the pump until the water is removed from the basin and disconnect the power. Locate the float switch housing and remove the connections to access the pump switch inside.

2. Replace the float switch

Remove the old switch and install the new one. Use the waterproof glue to secure the switch and allow glue to fully dry before reassembling into the pump.
