To replace the seat of a wooden chair, remove the old seat from the frame, cut a new bottom out of plywood, add some foam and batting to the new base and cover the new seat with fabric. Attach the new seat to the chair frame.
To make a new chair seat, use the following steps.
- Trace the bottom
- Add foam and batting
- Add fabric
Trace the bottom of the old seat directly on the plywood. Use a jigsaw to cut out the new bottom.
Use spray adhesive to attach the foam to the bottom. Wrap some batting around the seat and attach it to the sides of the wood bottom with a staple gun.
Wrap some fabric around the new seat and fix it to the underside of the seat bottom with a staple gun.
